The Split Worlds

by dodgyhoodoo on October 31, 2011, one comment

Earlier this year I discovered Emma Newman’s Split Worlds stories (via one of those FF of an FF of an FF things on Twitter, I think). I may have tweeted about them before – short, sharp slices of an urban fantasy world with just the right amount of bite and venom. I was hooked from the get-go, and read the lot in one sitting. I’d link to them here, but they’re not there any more.

There’s a reason for this.

Back in September, Emma announced that thanks to an anonymous patron, she would now be working full-time on a Super Secret Thing that would remain Super Secret until today. I may possibly have squeed out loud (in the privacy of my flat, thankfully, this didn’t even have the dignity of a w00t) when the Super Secret Thing turned out to be a Split Worlds project – not just a series of novels, but a year’s worth of short stories leading up to the launch of the first book next November, and all sorts of extra goodies along the way.

Looks like it’s going to be an interesting year…

*And then of course there’s Adam Christopher’s Empire State due out early next year, and Louise Morgan’s Blood and Feathers… Carry on like this, 2012, and I might even forgive you for the Olympics. Maybe.
