My host in Atlanta drove us out to the Grant Park Farmers’ Market on Sunday morning. What a great place – if I’d been staying any longer I’d probably have bought my own weight in cheese and veg…
We were just in time for a chef’s demo by Terry Koval from the Wrecking Bar in Little Five Points. For a demo of something as basic as a mustard vinaigrette, it’s given me some ideas to try when I get back home…
I’ll be checking out more markets I think, and sticking as far as I can to local beers and produce. Atlanta seems to be a locally-sourced, organic, slow-food slice of paradise…
For food and drink in Atlanta, my favourite spots were Leon’s Full Service and Brick Store Pub in Decatur, and the Wrecking Bar and Vortex in Little Five Points. Vortex has a giant grinning skull taking up the front of the building, which I idiotically failed to get even an iPhone photo of. How could I not walk in? (Great burgers and their own Laughing Skull pale ale. Nice.)
